Rooftop Wind Power
While most people assume wind power comes from giant and unsightly turbines all lined up in giant rows, you might be surprised by the beauty and effectiveness of home wind power - small turbines that look good and can provide a portion of your electricty at almost no cost. They are whisper quiet, and have almost no maintenence. Most rooftop wind turbines pay for themselves in months, while lasting for years!
Geothermal (or Ground Source) - act quick or its too late!
Geothermal heating (often called ground source heating) requires pipes to be laid below the frost line. Although many people assume that the pipes need to be sunk very deeply because the word "geothermal" seems to mean far beneath the ground, this is not true. However, the pipes do need to be laid before the ground freezes each winter or the cost of construction goes up significantly.
So, if you want to go gas- or oil-free this winter, heating your home through the natural warmth of the earth, you have to act soon!

Geothermal or Ground Source Heat:
Geothermal Heat Pumps (sometimes called ground source heat pumps) are possibly the most fascinating and powerful, yet realistic means for a homeowner to ditch gas or oil and heat (and cool!) their home. Geothermal Sytems can be installed in almost any home, and tap into the natural heat generated by the earth just a small way under the surface. These systems are both durable (often warranteed for 30-40 years), and cost effective (often paying for themselves in just 3-4 years).
Geothermal (or Ground Source) Heat Pumps may be the first green home heating possibility a homeowner should look in to.
